Dan Stevens in Talks to Reprise MonsterVerse Role in Godzilla x Kong Sequel

Actor Dan Stevens, known for Downton Abbey and Legion, is in discussions to reprise his role as Trapper in Legendary’s upcoming sequel to the Godzilla and Kong crossover series, not yet titled. In last year’s Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire, he was presented as a casual veterinarian employed by Monarch.

If Stevens is confirmed for the role, he will team up with Kaitlyn Dever, a Golden Globe nominee (from Booksmart), who was the first new cast member announced for the upcoming installment of the hit movie series. At present, specific details about her character are kept secret.

Who is involved in the Godzilla x Kong sequel?

In the upcoming sequel of Godzilla vs. Kong, Grant Sputore (known for “I Am Mother”) will take the director’s chair and Dave Callaham will pen the script. The storyline is said to introduce several fresh human characters along with the popular Titans, Godzilla and Kong. These titans are expected to confront a devastating global catastrophe. This epic battle is set to hit the big screen on March 26, 2027.

The legendary MonsterVerse movie series started in 2014 with the release of Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, featuring Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. After achieving great success, it was followed by a number of sequels such as Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), and Godzilla vs. Kong. Moreover, Legendary teamed up with Netflix to produce an animated Skull Island series that premiered on Netflix in 2023. Moving forward, the studio is also developing a spin-off series for Apple TV+ titled Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which has been renewed for a second season.
