As a seasoned gamer with an extensive background in sci-fi and action genres, I am beyond excited for Daisy Ridley’s latest venture – “Dedication.” With her impressive portfolio that spans from Star Wars to Chaos Walking, it’s clear that this actress has proven her mettle in both dramatic and action-packed roles.
The Highland Film Group has revealed that Daisy Ridley, known for her work on Star Wars, will star as the main character in an upcoming action thriller called “Dedication.” Filming is set to start in Spring 2025, with locations including the Philippines and parts of Europe.
Ridley has plenty of experience with action roles; she’s played lead characters in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Notably, she even performed her own stunts in films like Chaos Walking. She’s recently been seen in the biopic Young Woman and the Sea, and will appear next in the survival thriller We Bury the Dead. Additionally, she’s set to return as Rey Skywalker in an upcoming Star Wars film, where it’s rumored that she’ll work towards rebuilding the Jedi Order.
What is Dedication about?
In the movie, decorated Marine Corps commander Major Billie Jean Parker (played by Ridley) is dismissed from duty following a risky mission in the Philippines where civilian casualties occurred, but they successfully captured anarchist leader Omar Romatas. Facing the end of her military career, she visits her dying father Clyde, a former Marine, who requests her to attend a dedication ceremony for a school building named after him. However, the event takes a violent turn when Omar Romatas’ vengeful son Bento launches an attack, taking hostages. With no choice but to return to combat, Billie Jean uses her strategic skills and precision strikes to outmaneuver the assailants. As she battles relentlessly, she faces her past and strives to prove herself worthy in a fierce fight that will shape her legacy.
