As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen many teams rise and fall, but the story of MOUZ at the Shanghai Major 2024 is one that stands out. The MongolZ were an unexpected force to be reckoned with, riding on a 13-game winning streak, including a victory over MOUZ in the elimination stage. Yet, when it mattered most, siuhy and his teammates showed their mettle, proving they were not going to lose twice.
As underdogs, the MongolZ advanced to the quarterfinals, harboring hopes of claiming the title, while upholding the honor and prestige of Asia along the way.
MOUZ advance to the semis over The MongolZ!
The MongolZ, who were on a 13-match winning spree that saw them defeat MOUZ during the elimination phase before the playoffs, sadly had their incredible journey end in disappointment.
Regardless of their previous victories and close calls, they couldn’t maintain their winning streak against a resilient MOUZ. Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek, the in-game leader of MOUZ, had confidently declared before the match, “I won’t lose to them twice”. True to his word, he delivered on this promise.
Here to win it all!

Initially, The MongolZ opted for the ancient map.
What a map. Are you awake now?

On their winning streak, MOUZ opted for their chosen map, Nuke. However, The MongolZ demonstrated tenacity, claiming the initial lead with a 7-5 advantage in the first half. Nevertheless, MOUZ’s defense was impenetrable, as they staged another impressive comeback. It was Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo, the young Finnish sensation, who shone brightest in the second map, accumulating 21 kills to help his team clinch a 13-9 victory.

This victory advances MOUZ to their initial semifinal of a significant tournament since IEM Rio 2022. Their upcoming battle is against Team Spirit, a clash that determines who secures a place in the grand finale.
I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made the Shanghai Major 2024 a reality. To every hardworking individual behind the scenes, thank you for your relentless dedication. You’ve turned this event into something truly extraordinary.

The departure of The MongolZ from the CS2 scene leaves Asian fans feeling sad, but their incredible journey serves as a symbol of the region’s rising power in competitive gaming. On the other hand, MOUZ takes on the expectations of their supporters, ready to seize opportunities with the energy they’ve built up through their efforts.
How do you feel about the possibility that MOUZ might defeat Team Spirit and Danil “donk” Kryshkovets on Saturday, thus qualifying for their inaugural Major final?
