Danil “donk” Kryshkovets solidified his place in esports history, picking up another MVP trophy recently. This accolade follows closely on the heels of his record-breaking achievement at age 17, becoming the youngest-ever Major MVP and being named HLTV’s Player of the Year for the year 2024.
Eternal Fire’s Struggles Define the Series
In the eyes of Eternal Fire, this ultimate showdown will be marked as a squandered chance, as issues in the first half dominated the narrative. Throughout the series, the Turkish team often struggled to get off to strong starts, scoring only 3-9, 2-10, and 1-11 in the opening half of the final three maps. These sluggish beginnings forced them into catch-up mode and prevented them from fully leveraging their flashes of genius.

In spite of their difficulties, Eternal Fire kicked off the series in a spectacular fashion by staging an impressive comeback on their map choice, Anubis. They appeared to be heading towards defeat, as they trailed Spirit 4-12 due to the latter’s robust defense. Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov and Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov were the driving forces behind Spirit, delivering outstanding defensive performances that left Eternal Fire with limited options for counterplay.

In the second half, woxic ignited a flame for Eternal Fire as he played decisively in critical situations. This sparked a remarkable comeback. XANTARES had an unusually quiet game, but woxic’s consistency gave Eternal Fire a chance to fight back. In the end, Spirit faltered in overtime, and Eternal Fire emerged victorious on Anubis with a score of 16-14.
Spirit’s Dominance across Nuke, Dust 2 and Mirage
For a brief moment during the finals on Anubis, Eternal Fire’s victory seemed to signal a potentially competitive series. However, it was ultimately Team Spirit who dominated the remainder of the match.
On the second map, named Nuke, Spirit displayed an impressive T-side gameplay. chopper’s strategic calling, donk’s persistent attacks, and sh1ro’s exceptional aim with the AWP effectively breached Eternal Fire’s defenses, resulting in a significant 10-2 lead for Spirit at halftime.
Eternal Fire managed to secure the second pistol round and even converted it into another round win. However, any potential comeback was thwarted as Spirit finished off the map convincingly, ending the match with a score of 13-6.

The match ultimately ended with an impressive 13-3 win for Spirit. donk was exceptional, dominating the scoreboard with a remarkable K-D ratio of 22-7 and an impressive ADR of 129.9.
MAJ3R, Eternal Fire’s in-game leader, playfully described the third map as if it were a pesky creature that seemed to read his thoughts and chase him relentlessly. He acknowledged the opponent’s skill by calling him “really good.

In the end, it was sh1ro’s impressive multiple kills and Donk’s steady performance that allowed Spirit to seal the deal, winning the map 13-8, and ultimately claiming the championship title.
A Perfect Start to 2025 for Team Spirit
After winning BLAST Bounty, Spirit has reclaimed consecutive championships, having previously triumphed at the Shanghai Major. Now, their sights are set on IEM Katowice, marking ESL’s first event of the year. Their objective there is to preserve their winning momentum and extend their run of victories.

The ultimate match for Eternal Fire was filled with mixed emotions. Their unsteady starts and failure to maintain the same tempo as Spirit have left a lasting impact on them, as they ready themselves for the tasks to come.
With the intensity of the CS2 competitive season escalating, everyone’s attention is focused on Spirit, wondering if they can keep their supremacy in Katowice and beyond. Currently, they rule the CS2 realm, spearheaded by the unstoppable donk, whose rapid ascent shows no indications of abating.
