This upcoming update brings fresh content, alterations in gameplay mechanics, and special rewards to mark the culmination of Season 1 in CS2’s Premium Mode. After a span of 16 months, Valve is ready to wrap up Season 1 this week.
Premier Season One Wrap-Up and Commemorative Medals
At the end of the first season, those who achieved a Competitive Skill Rating will be awarded a unique Premier Season 1 Trophy. This trophy isn’t just for show – it contains comprehensive statistics from the entire season. Players can monitor their CSR advancement, examine playtime charts, and delve into map-specific performance data by clicking on the trophy in their inventory.

Prior to the commencement of Season 2, there will be a brief maintenance period for recalibration. Players’ Competitive Skill (CS) Ratings will be revised based on their Season 1 results. As Season 2 kicks off, players must rebuild their CS Rating by winning ten matches in the fresh season.
Changes for Season Two: New Map Pool and Weapon Updates
Season 2 will come with notable adjustments:
- Map Rotation: After already being introduced in Pro play, Train makes its comeback in Active Duty, replacing Vertigo in the 7-map-pool.
- Weapon Balancing: The FAMAS receives a much-needed buff, improving its standing and crouching accuracy. Additionally, both the FAMAS and M4A4 will see price reductions, enhancing their viability in competitive matches.
Previously, the M4A4 was set at a different price compared to the M4A1-S, but Valve has now adjusted the M4A4’s cost to match that of the M4A1-S, both priced at $2900. On the other hand, it is expected that the FAMAS will decrease in price, approximately to $1800. This could make the FAMAS a more attractive choice compared to the meta-MP9 for Counter-Terrorist players during early rounds.
Great question, Erik:
