CS2: m0NESY Shines, As G2 Destroy BetBoom In BLAST Bounty Quarters

In the BLAST Bounty Hunt quarterfinals, G2 Esports dominated Team BB, thereby securing their inaugural LAN triumph since the departure of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, marking a significant milestone in their post-Nikola era.

m0NESY Delivers a Masterclass

In a stunning display of talent, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov dominated the competition with an impressive 36 kills over just two matches. His exceptional play on Anubis, where he recorded a remarkable 2.34 HLTV rating, was pivotal in G2’s convincing win. Impressively, m0NESY racked up no less than seven multi-kills on the first map itself, leaving BetBoom struggling to keep up.

Initially, BetBoom started the series without their in-game leader Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov and AWPer Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko due to visa complications. In their absence, they relied on reserve players Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov and Aleksandr “KaiR0N-” Anashkin. However, it was clear that the team lacked synergy or coordination during play.

As a passionate fan, I enthusiastically chose to go up against G2 during the draft. Facing such an esteemed team turned out to be quite challenging for BetBoom, as they found it tough to match their pace. However, given that we were playing with stand-ins, our odds were already slim against any of those top-tier teams.

In their first selection, BetBoom opted for Anubis as the starting map. However, they soon discovered that they were no match for G2. Initially positioned on the weaker CT side, they struggled to establish a foothold, allowing G2 to exploit their weaknesses effectively. m0NESY was particularly unstoppable, leading G2’s charge and contributing significantly to their overwhelming 10-2 lead in the first half. Following a loss in the opening pistol round, G2 retaliated powerfully with a successful force-buy, never relinquishing control, and ultimately clinched the map with a decisive 13-2 victory, displaying an impressive show of dominance.

G2 capitalized on their ongoing advantage when they chose Dust2, dealing another decisive blow. m0NESY and Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko performed exceptionally well, but BetBoom momentarily scored three rounds. Regrettably, they couldn’t mount a significant challenge, wrapping up the series with only five rounds. In the end, G2 clinched the map 13-3 and moved on to the semifinals.

In a post-game chat, Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač talked about stepping up to share some of the calling responsibilities with NiKo out of action. He said, “I want my teammates to have their sights fully locked in because they play exceptionally well when they’re focused. I’m doing my best to assist them in any way possible,” highlighting his commitment to aiding and maintaining peak performance from his teammates.

Hunter also commended HeavyGod’s impact on the roster: “At last, we’ve got an excellent anchor who can be relied upon, even during tough scenarios. He’s been simply outstanding.”

Now, G2 eagerly anticipate their semifinal match, where they will face one of the lower-ranked teams again. This decisive win demonstrates that despite the post-NiKo period, G2 continues to be a formidable team.

For BetBoom, the outcome leaves us wondering how differently things might have turned out if they had used their complete team lineup.
