As a diehard gamer who’s witnessed countless tournaments, I can tell you that watching BIG Clan’s struggles in Shanghai is like watching my favorite football team lose a crucial match – heart-wrenching! The first game against HEROIC started off promisingly but ended disastrously, much like when I thought I had finally mastered Dark Souls III’s boss only to die at the last second.
Currently, the German team is trailing 0-2 and needs to win three straight best-of-three matches to qualify for the playoffs – quite an enormous challenge following their difficulties on the first day.
BIG is on the brink of elimination in Shanghai!
Troubles for them started at Heroic, where despite an encouraging 6-round attack on Mirage, BIG Clan ended up losing 13-7. The initial success soon turned sour as Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski from Heroic masterfully coordinated a strategic breakdown of BIG’s defensive arrangements in the CT side. Struggling to adapt, BIG suffered a defeat that set the stage for a challenging day ahead.
0:1 – Not the opening we hoped for, but we’re ready to bounce back!
Next match soon!

The scenario deteriorated following G2 Esports’ unexpected defeat at the hands of The MongolZ, leading BIG to face the tournament frontrunners in their second encounter. On Mirage, BIG were clearly outmatched and suffered a one-sided 13-5 loss. They managed to secure the initial three rounds on T-side and the opening two on CT, but were unable to offer any further challenge thereafter.
In the second match, Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz struggled significantly, managing only five kills. On the other hand, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov of G2 shone brilliantly, ending the game with a 21-10 kill-death ratio and delivering crucial moments that left BIG searching for solutions. The persistent aggression and precise execution of G2 often left BIG’s attempts in vain, highlighting the disparity between the two teams.
0:2 – A tough start, but we’re not done yet!
BO3 tomorrow – it’s do or die!— BIG (@BIGCLANgg) December 5, 2024
With elimination looming, BIG will go head-to-head with paiN tomorrow at 9:00 AM CET in the 0-2 pool. To keep their tournament run going, they need to win this series and two more best-of-three matches consecutively – a formidable task given their recent performance. If they pull it off, it will be their first Major playoff appearance since the FACEIT London Major back in 2018.
0-2 bad day in the office but nothing its over till its over. Time to bounce back #GOBIG

As a member of BIG Clan, I know the path forward won’t be easy. To continue our Shanghai campaign, we’re going to need a total shift in strategy and execute nearly flawlessly, beginning with our match against paiN.
