Criston Cole made a huge mistake showcasing Meleys's head in House of the Dragon

As a longtime fan of the Game of Thrones universe, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness and disappointment at the way things have unfolded in “House of the Dragon.” The recent events in King’s Landing, specifically the parade with Meleys’ head being dragged through the streets, have left me feeling disillusioned.

In “House of the Dragon,” the commoners strongly disapproved of Meleys’s decapitated head being publicly displayed. This regrettable act signified the impending demise of dragons and was a grave blunder on the part of Ser Criston Cole.

I, as a dedicated fan, was thrilled at Cole’s triumphant return to Rook’s Rest. My heart swelled with pride, yearning to share in the joy of this hard-earned victory. But the atmosphere grew somber as we beheld the dragon’s head being led through the gates. This unexpected scene starkly contrasted the sorrowful mood we had experienced only a few episodes prior during the mourning of the late Prince Jaehaerys.

The people viewed the dragon head as a bad omen in House of the Dragon

During the parade, which Cole headed, some people voiced their concerns, viewing it as an unfavorable sign. This went against their previous support for the Greens.

Cole expresses astonishment, inquiring from Alicent’s brother if the public is aware that they emerged victorious during the Battle at Rook’s Rest. Alicent’s brother responds with a comment on the unusual nature of their triumph. Indeed, it was a peculiar victory. We all bore witness as Aegon and Sunfyre plummeted from the heavens. Our forces sustained losses as dragons descended upon them, incinerating men on the ground.

Additionally, dragons have held great esteem among the population for centuries. They serve as emblems of the Targaryen lineage, yet here is one being publicly paraded with its head leading the way.

Criston Cole has set up the end of the dragons in House of the Dragon

In this instant, the common folk understand that dragons can be slain. Though scorpions have previously been employed for this task, creating them is no simple feat, and great accuracy is required. The heads of these dragons have never graced the eyes of the people. Instead, the populace has grieved over the loss of these magnificent creatures.

In the near future, Cole is preparing a narrative that may result in the demise of numerous dragons. As impatience and outrage spread among the populace, violent uprisings are imminent. This turbulence could trigger an assault on the Dragonpit, ultimately marking the end for the dragons residing there.

If Cole hadn’t acted as he did, the fear of dragons among people wouldn’t have persisted. However, Cole’s error will result in severe consequences for him. Regrettably, the price for his mistake will be borne by other dragons.
