As a long-time fan who has followed Matthew Gray Gubler’s journey from Dr. Spencer Reid to Albert Einstein, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension. It’s fantastic to see him stepping into a new role, especially one as iconic as Einstein, but at the same time, I can’t help but wonder if he’ll ever grace us with Spencer Reid’s presence again.

There’s good news and bad news for Matthew Gray Gubler fans. The good news is he will be on television again! Unfortunately, it will not be on Criminal Minds: Evolution. Instead, the actor who portrayed Dr. Spencer Reid will now be playing a different kind of genius.

As a fan, I’m excited about the upcoming series “Einstein,” created by Andy Breckman, renowned for his work on “Monk,” and Randy Zisk, an executive producer. This new show delves into the life of Lew, Albert Einstein’s great-grandson, who is portrayed as intellectually gifted yet lacking direction. He holds a professorship at Princeton University, but the weight of his namesake proves challenging, especially when he finds himself in trouble and is perceived as being unconventional.

The series will trace Einstein’s journey as a professor who unexpectedly joins forces with a detective to tackle complex cases. His involvement in this line of work stems from an encounter with the law enforcement, where they recognize his unique abilities that prove valuable in resolving the unusual mysteries they face.

What does this new role mean for Matthew Gray Gubler returning to Criminal Minds: Evolution?

The show, titled “Einstein,” is a dramedy taking place in Germany, revolving around a young man who, after attempting to steal drugs for his medical condition, finds himself working as a consultant. This marks the third attempt to adapt this series for American audiences, and it appears that this time it might just work!

In the new production, Gubler is set to take on the lead role, making it less likely that we’ll see him on “Criminal Minds: Evolution”. On the series itself, his character was written off by sending him on a mission to explain why he wasn’t with the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

If Einstein gets picked up by CBS, it could imply that we might not see him back in the series permanently. However, there’s still a chance that David Ramsey (Gubler) could make an appearance for a cameo or two. Shemar Moore, who played Derek Morgan and now stars on SWAT, has shown interest in reprising his role if asked to do so.

Regardless of whether David Cubbertson (Gubler) doesn’t come back to Criminal Minds, having been part of it for 15 years before its reboot, it promises an enjoyable experience to witness him portray another character with a distinct genius!
