As a die-hard fan who’s been following Criminal Minds for years, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and excitement as we gear up for season 3 of its spin-off, Evolution! The suspense surrounding Elias Voit’s fate in the season 2 finale has left me on the edge of my seat, and I can’t wait to see how his story unfolds.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about the future of Criminal Minds: Evolution, with season 2 now behind us. Though we’re still in the early stages, we can confirm that the series will return for season 3. Furthermore, the season 2 finale has hinted at a potential storyline involving Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) that could carry on into upcoming episodes.
In the last episode of season 2, Voit found himself serving time in prison, a strange choice for him since he requested to join the general population. The final scene showed him doing laundry when suddenly an attack occurred. Given his past actions and cunning nature, many began to suspect that the incident was orchestrated by Voit himself as a desperate attempt to escape prison quickly. It’s clear that Voit is determined to find any means necessary to leave prison sooner rather than later.
Here’s what we know about the upcoming season!
Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 is in production!
As a devoted Criminal Minds fan, I can’t contain my excitement! Although we don’t have an official release date yet, the third season is currently in production – that’s right, Criminal Minds: Evolution is coming back to our screens some time in 2025. Even better, actress Kirsten Vangsness has given us a sneak peek by sharing a video from the very first table read for the new season on her Instagram. Plus, I’ve got images straight from the set of episode 1! It’s going to be an incredible ride!
What will the season be about?
It remains uncertain what the upcoming season will encompass, but it’s safe to assume that Voit will probably continue to play a role given his potential to complicate matters for the BAU if he manages to survive the attack and implicate them. Furthermore, there is a possibility that one of the other profilers might take center stage this season, similar to how Agent David Rossi was in season 1 and Agent Emily Prentiss in season 2.
During an interview with The Wrap, showrunner Erica Messer discussed using the call sheet as a reference point for determining which profiler would take center stage during the upcoming season. Given the events of Season 2, it’s possible that JJ could be the focus, as she was deeply involved in BAU-gate.
Cast
It appears that all the actors from the past three seasons are set to return, including Ryan-James Hatanaka, who first appeared as Tyler Green and recently handed in his application to the FBI on the show.
It remains uncertain whether we’ll get to see actors like Daniel Henney and Matthew Gray Gubler again, as their return depends on scheduling issues. Previously, showrunner Erica Messer has expressed interest in having them rejoin the cast. The main stars of the series are Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, and Aisha Tyler.
