Crenshaw Skate Club Cracks Open a Coke

At Crenshaw Skate Club, they’re celebrating the arrival of summer by enjoying one of life’s most straightforward joys – sipping on a cool Coke!

Under the leadership of Tobey McIntosh, the imprint has launched a vibrant collaboration with Coca-Cola, which encompasses co-branded jerseys, shorts, jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, skateboards, and a special edition collaborative Coke can.

During the process of creating this collection, I recalled my grandpa telling me about his experience as a Coca-Cola delivery driver in the 1970s. This memory served as the foundation for the design inspiration behind the collection, which is heavily influenced by Coca-Cola’s “For The Real Times” campaign from that era.

I found it captivating to observe how a product could bridge generations. Daily, intergenerational learning and bonding occur within our communities, ranging from chats with our elders to socializing at the skatepark with peers. When I stumbled upon the ‘For The Real Times’ campaign from my grandfather’s time, it struck me as an excellent opportunity to reimagine it, drawing inspiration from personal experiences, skateboarding, and life in South Central LA. My aspiration is that when individuals purchase the cans or don the apparel, they can initiate timeless discussions and create lasting memories across generations through the Crenshaw Skate Club.
