Could Ezra Miller Return as The Flash in James Gunn’s DCU?

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen more than a few comic book adaptations come and go. The Flash has always been one of those characters that I had a soft spot for, ever since I was a kid watching the old TV series. So, when Ezra Miller stepped into the role, I was genuinely excited. However, the controversy surrounding the actor cast a dark shadow over the whole experience.

There’s speculation among fans if Ezra Miller might reprise the role of The Flash in James Gunn’s DC Universe (DCU). Previously, Miller portrayed The Flash in four films within the DC Extended Universe. However, towards the conclusion of his term, he became entangled in a significant controversy. This controversy was sparked when Miller faced allegations from various parties of grooming, harassment, and assault. These allegations have recently resurfaced, leading to the current buzz about Miller’s potential return as The Flash.

Keen on learning more about Ezra Miller’s reprisal of The Flash role in James Gunn’s DC universe? Here’s the lowdown you’ve been waiting for.

Will Ezra Miller return as The Flash in James Gunn’s DC Universe?

Ezra Miller’s return as The Flash in James Gunn’s DC Universe is unlikely to happen.

The reason for this is that The Flash movie underperformed at the cinema, earning just $271.3 million globally compared to its production budget of around $200-220 million. Additionally, the film’s conclusion set Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in a completely different universe from James Gunn’s version of the DC Universe.

On September 27, 2023, James Gunn confirmed the actors reprising their roles in the DC Universe, but Ezra Miller, who plays The Flash, was not on the list. This includes Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman as well. This suggests that it’s unlikely Miller will return to his role as Flash in the DCU.

  • Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller
  • John Cena’s Peacemaker

Previously, during an interview with AP Entertainment at the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in April 2023, Gunn stated he would take a wait-and-see approach regarding Ezra Miller’s role as The Flash in the DCU. This statement was made before the film’s actual premiere in June 2023.

In my gaming world, I recently stumbled upon a post from fellow gamer and scooper MyTimetoShineHello on the old platform we used to know as Twitter. It appears that a large number of gamers, much like myself, have voiced their preference for a new actor to take over the role of Ezra Miller in our beloved game universe.

The Flash is currently streaming on Netflix and HBO Max.
