What did Corey Feldman say about Johnny Depp?

Corey Feldman alleges that Johnny Depp interfered with a significant acting opportunity in the movie “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.” In an interview on The Magnificent Others podcast, Feldman disclosed that he was initially chosen to portray the younger brother of Depp’s character. This part eventually went to Leonardo DiCaprio, who garnered an Academy Award nomination for his acting in the film.

As stated by Feldman, Depp was selected for the role following him, and it’s alleged that Depp persuaded the producers to replace Feldman. According to Feldman, Depp expressed discomfort working with him, saying he wasn’t fond of Feldman, claiming Feldman was a drug addict and didn’t collaborate with addicts. However, Feldman refuted this claim, asserting that he had just completed rehab and was clean at the time.

Feldman suggested that his efforts to aid River Phoenix, who was associated with Depp, might have added to the strife. He explained, “I was trying to help River [Phoenix] back then, as we all know, who Depp was associating with. As you can imagine, there was a bit of friction on that matter.

Feldman confessed that relinquishing the role made him feel quite resentful. He mentioned that he’s never seen the movie since then. Additionally, he disclosed a later competition with DiCaprio for the lead in Titanic, but admitted that he hadn’t come as close to securing that part.
