Without a doubt, Coolie is currently generating a lot of buzz as one of the highly anticipated Tamil films. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this movie boasts some of the biggest names in the acting community, including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and others. Recently, an intriguing tidbit about the action-thriller has been spreading like wildfire before its premiere.
Coolie to follow the storyline of a mafia crew connected with watches?
As stated by Letterboxd, the storyline of Coolie revolves around an aged crime syndicate headed by Rajinikanth’s character, Deva. He is depicted as a waning gold trafficker who comes up with an innovative strategy to reassemble and rejuvenate his former associates.
Deva employs technology swiped from within antique gold watches, a move that reunites his old band of associates. Yet, as he sets in motion his scheme to restore the defunct smuggling empire, things start to escalate beyond his control, transforming into something far more significant.
The end result is the creation of a vast, novel cosmos, born out of the crucible of criminal acts, avarice, and a distorted perception of time.
Yet, it’s essential to note that while this seems like a summary, it has not been officially confirmed. It will be interesting to see if the movie’s real narrative matches up with this outline.
Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed bagging Rs. 50 crore as fees for Coolie
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lokesh Kanagaraj discussed rumors of him receiving a massive payment of fifty crores for the film Coolie. He pointed out that his previous blockbuster, Leo, grossed approximately 600 crores at the box office, making it reasonable for his fees to have doubled now.
He might get questioned about his 50-crore income, but this amount came from the success of his previous film, Leo, which earned around 600 crores at the box office. Given its success, it’s only logical that his compensation doubled. This industry operates on demand and supply principles, and he puts in a lot of effort for every penny he earns.
Rajinikanth’s reaction on watching Coolie
As an ardent admirer, I’d like to share a fascinating tidbit from a piece of that same interview. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj disclosed the moment when Rajinikanth, the venerable star, viewed Coolie in its entirety for the first time. He spoke about a unique remark that Thalaiva himself made regarding this very topic!
In the dubbing studio, Rajinikanth watched a movie and then gave me a warm embrace, saying, “I felt like Thalapathi during it!” This moment made my day, and for the first time in months, I had a restful night’s sleep.
