Constantine 2 Update: Keanu Reeves Sequel Gets Promising News

As a die-hard fan who has been eagerly awaiting the return of John Constantine since the original film graced our screens back in 2005, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation at the news that a script for Constantine 2 has reportedly been completed.

A fresh update on the sequel of the 2005 cult classic, now titled “Constantine 2”, has been released, hinting at some exciting developments in the Keanu Reeves-starring film.

What is the Constantine 2 update?

In a conversation with ComicBook, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura stated that a script for the upcoming movie has been completed and dispatched to him. However, he hasn’t had time to go through it yet. “It’s sitting in my email at this moment,” said Bonaventura. Amusingly enough, he admitted that he’s hesitant to read it because he yearns for it to be excellent. He plans to read it within the next few days, especially during his flights.

Despite limited information regarding the plot of the sequel to the 2005 movie “Constantine”, its director, Frank Lawrence, has previously expressed a desire for the sequel to carry an R rating.

In an interview with TheWrap, Lawrence expressed that one of the main aspects of the first film was adhering to Warner Bros.’ guidelines for a PG-13 rating regarding violence, language, blood, and sexuality. However, the ratings board classified it as an R due to its intensity within the gray zone. His primary regret is that the movie received an R rating when it should have been considered PG-13. If he had to make an R-rated film, he would have fully embraced it by making it scarier, more violent, and truly embodying what an R-rated movie should be.

In February of 2005, the first film about Constantine hit the screens. Alongside Reeves, it featured Rachel Weisz portraying Angela Dodson, Shia LaBeouf as Chas Kramer, Tilda Swinton as Gabriel, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Father Hennessy, Djimon Hounsou as Papa Midnite, Gavin Rossdale as Balthazar, and Peter Stormare in the role of Lucifer.

The movie made approximately $230.9 million at the global box office office an estimated $70-$100 million budget.
