Concord to go offline, refund purchases on PS5 and PC

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit, I’ve seen my fair share of game launches that didn’t quite hit the mark. The latest addition to this list is Concord, a hero shooter from PlayStation Studios and Firewalk Studios.


Sony’s PlayStation Studios are temporarily shutting down Concord, just about two weeks after its worldwide launch. Players who bought the game for their PS5 or PC consoles will receive a full refund. The developer Firewalk Studios is actively brainstorming potential plans for the future of their hero shooter game.

Firewalk Studios’ Game Director Ryan Ellis shared in a PlayStation Blog post that Concord will be taken offline permanently on September 6, 2024. In this announcement, Ellis acknowledges that while certain elements of the game were well-received by players, he also admitted that other aspects and its initial launch didn’t meet the desired impact as planned.

Following the release of Concord towards the end of August, it received minimal attention. The game peaked with a record 697 simultaneous players on Steam, but fewer than 100 were playing when this news broke. Further details about refunds can be found in the accompanying blog post.
