Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone, the mastermind behind Stardew Valley, has decided to step away from further updates for Stardew Valley in order to concentrate solely on his next project, Haunted Chocolatier.
Although the developer has hinted that a Stardew Valley 2 might be produced at some point, he additionally disclosed that Haunted Chocolatier will share many similarities with the cherished farming game.
Haunted Chocolatier might as well be Stardew Valley 2
In much the same way as farming plays a secondary role in Stardew Valley to its life simulation aspects, Barone’s latest game focuses more on the experience of inhabiting the world rather than intense action RPG gameplay. While there will likely be some emphasis on the action RPG elements, immersing oneself within the game world is given greater priority.
The creator described it as a life simulation game, much like Stardew Valley, but unique in its own right. He expressed his passion for creating such games and mentioned that he’s particularly excited about Haunted Chocolatier, as it offers an opportunity to fuel imagination and creativity. He aims to make the game filled with unusual and engaging elements, providing players with unforgettable experiences.
Barone clarified that Haunted Chocolatier is intended as a more ominous version of the Stardew Valley experience, but it won’t veer into malicious territory like its influence from Diablo suggests.
He described Stardew Valley as cheerful, vibrant, and verdant, while Haunted Chocolatier felt enigmatic and shadowy. It’s not the ominous dark of something malevolent, but rather the intriguing, puzzling kind, with a hint of the supernatural – elements that leave you questioning what lies beneath.
Despite Haunted Chocolatier being years away, it’s thrilling to catch glimpses of more from ConcernedApe. Following a decade of post-release updates for Stardew Valley, it promises to be equally exciting to witness the remarkable growth in the creator’s abilities when his next project eventually drops.
