Complaint filed against Major Ravi for wearing his military uniform while visiting landslide-affected areas in Wayanad

As a dedicated follower of both Major Ravi and Mohanlal’s work, I find myself torn between their admirable actions during these trying times and the valid concerns raised about their decisions regarding military uniforms.

A grievance has been lodged against Major Ravi, a film director and ex-army officer, due to his wearing military attire while touring the Wayanad region of Kerala, which was struck by landslides. The accusation claims that this action breaches military rules, as they forbid the donning of military uniforms in situations unrelated to official duties or where it might seem like using one’s military status for personal profit or publicity purposes.

In Wayanad, where Major Ravi is recognized for his film industry contributions, he attended to evaluate the aftermath of severe landslides causing both human and property losses, according to local news sources. A resident filed a complaint, expressing worries that Major Ravi’s uniform might confuse people about the military’s actual presence in the area, potentially damaging the prestige of the armed forces.

On August 3rd, Indian actor Mohanlal – a Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army – journeyed to the disaster-stricken regions of Wayanad, Kerala. He was accompanied by Major Ravi, with the purpose of evaluating the extent of damage caused by the landslide that took place on July 30th, and providing aid to those affected by this tragic event, which resulted in both loss of life and property.

While wearing his military uniform during a visit, Mohanlal donated three crore rupees via his NGO, Vishwashanthi Foundation, for regional rehabilitation projects. Showing great concern about the damage, he emphasized that only direct experience could truly grasp the extent of the destruction. He also praised the army and other relief organizations for their exceptional work under difficult conditions.

During his trip alongside Mohanlal, Major Ravi pledged to aid in rebuilding a nearby school that had been badly affected by landslides. Yet, this visit was not without debate as Major Ravi himself encountered criticism for taking a selfie at the site, an action deemed insensitive by some online users due to the somber circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
