As a seasoned gamer with a knack for spotting patterns and anticipating twists, I can confidently say that Colman Domingo‘s career trajectory is reminiscent of a well-crafted narrative. His journey from Victor Strand to Muncie Daniels mirrors the progression of an engaging game, where each level introduces new challenges and intriguing characters.
Colman Domingo, winner of an Emmy Award, has been very active since parting ways with Victor Strand, a character he played in Fear the Walking Dead since 2015. His name can be found in numerous impressive projects such as Rustin, The Color Purple, and his latest sensation, Sing Sing. Now Domingo is making a change as he will feature in the Netflix original series titled The Madness.
The conspiracy thriller was created for Netflix by co-showrunner Stephen Belber (O.G., The Laramie Project). VJ Boyd (Justified, S.W.A.T.) joins as co-showrunner and executive producer with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kaitlin Dahill. The eight-part limited series from Chernin Entertainment, in its first-look deal for the streamer, is directed by Clément Virgo (Greenleaf).
Domingo is accompanied by an impressive ensemble featuring Stephanie Blake, known from “When They See Us” and “Orange Is the New Black,” Gabrielle Graham, recognized for her roles in “Twenties” and “21 Thunder,” John Ortiz, who starred in “Silver Linings Playbook,” Tamsin Topolski, best known for “The Diplomat,” and Thaddeus J. Mixon.
“The Madness”
On Friday, Domingo conveyed to Tudum his enthusiasm for the upcoming thriller and the opportunity to bring a distinct main character to life. He also posted the initial sneak peeks of the show on various social networking platforms.
The Madness will premiere all eight episodes on Netflix on November 28.
Colman Domingo – upcoming roles
Domingo most recently appeared in Drive-Away Dolls, Ethan Coen’s quirky road trip comedy streaming on Prime Video. He also starred in the musical adaptation of The Color Purple. His voice talents were featured in several titles, including the animated Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken and the most recent installment in the Transformers universe, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, as the voice of Unicron.
In the upcoming months, I’ll be stepping into the roles of two iconic figures – Joe Jackson, father of Michael, for a biopic named “Michael,” set to hit theaters in April 2025. Additionally, I’ve co-written and will voice the character of Nat King Cole in an upcoming movie that I can hardly wait to share with you all. Oh, and let’s not forget my role as Norman Osborn in the exciting new animated series, “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.” It’s going to be one heck of a ride!
