Coldplays Not So Secret Telangana Connection

At the Ahmedabad concert, Coldplay, a renowned English band, created quite a stir, marking the end of their tour across India. Towards the close of their shows in India, Chris Martin, the lead singer, playfully remarked that they had essentially become an Indian band, given that all members originate from various regions within the country.

The widely-shared video, originally posted online, was later shared by Vijay Deverakonda, who enthusiastically responded to the heartfelt message from the singer. On Instagram, re-sharing the video, the actor exclaimed, “Welcome Chris Martin! It’s time for a Podusthunna Poddumeeda X Coldplay collaboration!

Let me clarify: “Podustunna Poddumeeda” is a tune from the film “Jai Bolo Telangana,” which depicted the Telangana movement. The song was created by the late Chakri and sung by Gummadi Vittal Rao, also known as Gaddar – a deceased poet, singer, and communist revolutionary who championed the cause of Telangana statehood.

The widely-shared clip, captured during Coldplay’s performance on January 26, 2025, saw Chris Martin expressing gratitude to his bandmates. He remarked that they had been like brothers for a staggering 29 years. Interestingly, what many spectators might not realize is that all four band members are actually natives of India, making them an Indian musical group by origin.

The performer gestured towards Guy Berryman, the bassist, remarking, “He seems to hail from Scotland, but that’s not accurate. He is actually from Tamil Nadu. It’s common knowledge that I am from Telangana. Let me introduce you to our drummer and multi-instrumentalist, a 100% Gujarati native all the way from Ahmedabad. In numerous aspects, he is the mastermind behind our band, the one who keeps us cohesive, the charming, brilliant, beautiful, and somewhat intimidating Will Champion.

From hereon, it’s been confirmed that actor Vijay Deverakonda is busy preparing for his upcoming film, provisionally named VD12. This film, helmed by the talented Gowtam Tinnanuri of Jersey fame, is rumored to be an action-packed production. Initially scheduled for release on March 28, 2025, there are whispers that the launch date might need to be rescheduled.
