In Destiny 2, the Cold Comfort is a freshly introduced Rocket Launcher that can be obtained from the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. This Stasis-powered weapon falls within the Aggressive Frame category, which makes it an attractive choice right off the bat. However, its enticing factor significantly increases due to its exceptionally aggressive perks. Persistently farm the dungeon until you manage to secure your own ideal Cold Comfort PVE build.
PVE – Cold Comfort god roll

As you’re aware, Quick Launch and Impact Casing are additional features that significantly enhance Cold Comfort’s speed, stability, and maneuverability. The speed (Velocity) guarantees a rapid arrival at the target, while the ease of handling (Handling) expedites the process of switching to it and preparing it for use.
Choosing your perks becomes the thrilling part! First up is Envious Assassin. This perk shares similarities with Ambitious Assassin but offers a unique twist – it increases your ammunition supply for kills made using alternative weapons. Essentially, by securing kills with weapons other than your primary one, you’ll have two rockets at the ready!
The bonus you’re interested in is called Bait and Switch. By using your Primary, Secondary, and Special abilities on the boss, any rockets fired over the next 10 seconds will deal an additional 35% damage. This effect can accumulate with other damage bonuses such as Boss Specific mods, Well of Radiance, Stasis Surge modifiers, and debuffs like Tractor Cannon.
If you attack the boss using your main gun, sidearm, and special weapon, any rockets fired for the next 10 seconds will do extra damage. This effect can combine with other damage increases from mods, abilities, and debuffs.
Beyond that, the Restoration Ritual is quite remarkable for its potency. When you land a finishing move on any foe or resuscitate an ally, it instantly reloads your weapon and readies an additional shot. This allows you to prepare two rockets with Envious Assassin, fire them off, get a finisher on a Thrall during the Ghosts of the Deep boss battle, and have another pair of rockets ready. Conversely, filling your magazine with Envious Assassin before landing a finisher will grant you three rockets to launch before you need to reload again.
If you’re finding it tough to strike a moving target with your rocket, think about choosing one equipped with a Tracking Module and Bait and Switch features instead. An alternative worth considering from the last column is Explosive Light.
If you’ve obtained one of the recent Cold Comfort models that doesn’t pair well with Envious Assassin, consider opting for Reconstruction instead. This upgrade allows for carrying two rockets at a time in its tube, ready for immediate use. Additionally, the final column now features Elemental Honing, beneficial for constructs supporting Prismatic abilities capable of dishing out multiple elemental damages swiftly. Nevertheless, Explosive Light and Bait and Switch are more practical to implement.
PVP – Cold Comfort god roll
In a desirable configuration for the Crucible or Trial-focused god roll of your Cold Comfort weapon, prioritize attributes such as Velocity and Blast Radius. Although it performs less remarkably in Player versus Player (PVP), it remains fairly effective.

Cold Comfort doesn’t pack the same punch as BrayTech Osprey in terms of blast radius, but it’s still quite effective. Keep an eye out for Volatile Launch and Black Powder. Although they lower velocity, stability, and handling, you can compensate by choosing appropriate perks.
As a fan, I’d recommend going for a weapon with the Impulse Amplifier perk since it boosts projectile speed by an impressive 35%. For the secondary perk, Cluster Bombs or Explosive Light (if you manage to grab an Orb of Power) make excellent choices for area control. Don’t forget to look out for a Blast Radius Masterwork and add Quick Access Sling to finalize your setup.
In Destiny 2’s Season of the Deep, a Cold Comfort with optimal stats could be the top-tier Rocket Launcher.
