When is the theatrical release date for Clown in a Cornfield?
Due to its recent purchase by RLJE Films and Shudder, the film titled “Clown in a Cornfield,” produced by Smile’s Temple Hill, is scheduled for a nationwide cinema release in the USA on May 9, 2025.
The movie was adapted from the 2020 novel with the same title penned by Adam Cesare. The cast includes Katie Douglas, Carson MacCormac, Aaron Abrams, Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand.
In the peaceful town of Kettle Springs, Quinn (Douglas) and her father (Abrams) arrive seeking a fresh start. According to Deadline’s summary, their tranquility is disrupted as Quinn uncovers a struggling community, which has suffered greatly following the destruction of the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory. As disagreements escalate among the locals and animosity rises, an ominous clown named Frendo emerges from the cornfields, intent on purifying the town through a series of gruesome killings. Welcome to Kettle Springs—the true entertainment commences when Frendo the clown decides to entertain.
The screenplay for “Clown in a Cornfield” was penned by the writing duo Craig and Carter Blanchard. In production are Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, John Fischer, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, and Terry Dougas, while Jean-Luc De Fanti, Max Work, Kostas Tsoukalas, Petersen Harris, George Berman, Dave Bishop, George Hamilton, Daniel Bekerman, Myron John Tataryn, and Blanchard are the executive producers.
Craig expressed his excitement about teaming up with RLJE and Shudder for the release of our wildly entertaining action-horror-comedy. He made this announcement in a statement, stating that it’s where he always wanted the film to be shown – on the big screen! In typical fashion for his movies, there’s a deeper message about conflicting viewpoints and values leading to chaos. However, in this film, the horror elements take center stage, while the comedic absurdity that Craig finds in everyday life adds a touch of humor to the mix.
