Clown in a Cornfield Star on Why His X-Men Villain Wasn’t in Deadpool & Wolverine

Kevin Durand has explained why he chose not to reprise his role as Blob in Deadpool & Wolverine, citing the laborious makeup process and complex production demands that required extensive preparation time as the primary reasons for his non-appearance in the film. The actor from The Clown in a Cornfield recently spoke about these issues.

Clown in a Cornfield’s Kevin Durand on Blob’s absence in Deadpool & Wolverine

In an exclusive chat with ComicBookMovie.com, Kevin Durand stated that the role was incredibly labor-intensive. He elaborated, “Applying the makeup and layering the costume took a total of seven and a half hours.

Initially, Durand took on the role of Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was released in 2009. Later, Mike Waters portrayed the same character in a brief, silent scene for a Marvel Studios film. Looking back on his earlier performance, Durand recalled that Hugh Jackman often told him during filming their ring scene, “Wow, they’re really going to love this character. You’ll get used to this makeup process.” Unfortunately, the Blob role didn’t return in future productions.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Durand hinted at the possibility of revisiting the role of Blob in future projects. Fingers crossed, they’ll bring this fantastic character back to life! If given the chance, I couldn’t wait to dive deep into the complexities of Freddy Dukes once more.

Previously, Durand portrayed Floronic Man in DC Universe’s Swamp Thing series. Unfortunately, the show was terminated after only one season, as he expressed, “They brought the plug out far too quickly.” There’s often a lot of red tape involved in such projects, which can shift and change… unfortunately, they ended an excellent production prematurely with that decision.

In the movie “Clown in a Cornfield,” which hits theaters on May 9, Durand takes center stage. The plot revolves around Quinn and her father, who seek a new beginning in Kettle Springs, but soon find themselves confronting a menacing figure known as Frendo, a masked killer terrorizing the townsfolk.
