Newsflash: The much-anticipated collaboration between Kobe Bryant and Nike, the Air Force 1 Low Protro “Soft Yellow”, is confirmed to drop this summer. Fresh images have emerged, revealing intricate details. A prominent feature is the large ‘8’ emblazoned on both shoes, a tribute to Kobe’s legendary jersey number.
New information discloses that Kobe’s signature replaces the usual Air logo as a heartfelt tribute to the renowned athlete. Moreover, the sole is engraved with his championship years, symbolizing Kobe’s path from his first NBA title in 2000 with the Lakers to his last victory. The insole showcases an impactful image of Kobe practicing free throws in 1999, while nursing a hurt wrist and partially clad in pajamas, prior to a game against the Vancouver Grizzlies—a glimpse into his relentless determination.
Nike is expanding the variety of merchandise they’re producing in honor of Kobe Bryant, encompassing not only performance gear but also casual, lifestyle items. Last year saw the unveiling of special editions of the Air Force 1 Low in white and black, and there are rumors of more releases this year, such as the “Linen” and “Persian Violet” versions that we talked about recently.
In her recent Instagram post, Vanessa Bryant unveiled a sneak peek of an upcoming Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Low in a “Soft Yellow” colorway. This forthcoming shoe sports a yellow hue on its leather upper and midsole, with deep purple accents appearing on the lateral midsole’s Kobe signature and outsole, creating a Lakers-themed palette. What sets this pair apart from previous editions is an oversized “8” overlay at the left shoe’s heel, potentially joined by “24” – his other jersey number – on the right shoe’s heel. Additionally, it boasts a snakeskin-style tongue tag and laces.
Currently, Nike hasn’t announced the release date for the Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Soft Yellow”. Keep an eye out for updates, including a full photo collection of the shoes, as we anticipate they will become available this summer on Nike SNKRS and selected retailers. The starting price is expected to be $150 USD.
