As a seasoned gamer with an eye for emerging talent and a knack for deciphering intriguing plotlines, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation upon hearing about Ryan Brennan’s latest project, Clean Break. Having followed his career from the shorts like Jack Bowman and The Farthest Apple From the Tree to his one-episode appearances on Power and Law & Order, it’s exciting to see him stepping into the major leagues with a motion picture under Searchlight Pictures.
Clean Break, a promising screenplay penned by up-and-coming writer Ryan Brennan, has been purchased by Searchlight Pictures after a fierce bidding war with other studios.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to announce that Brennan is making his debut in a significant feature film, following his recent directorial and writing work for the short drama “Skinned” last year. In this production, he also took on the role of boxer Tucker. Prior to this, Brennan has graced our screens in numerous shorts including “Jack Bowman” (2014), “The Farthest Apple From the Tree”, “A Happy Marriage” (both 2015), and “Last Meal” (2018). Additionally, he’s made guest appearances on popular series like Power and Law & Order in a single episode.
What is Clean Break about?
In the movie, when a determined lone-wolf pool player encounters an equally skilled hustler, their magnetic yet dangerous pull towards each other results in tragic events that our protagonist is unable to escape.
Presently, the project titled “Clean Break” is being actively worked on behind the scenes. Specifics regarding the cast, when filming will commence, and the anticipated launch date have yet to be disclosed publicly. Notably, as of now, there’s no identified director for this production.
Please note that Searchlight Pictures, SVP Production Taylor Friedman, Creative Affairs Manager Daniel Yu, and Scott Free Productions’ SVP of Film Sam Rostan will collectively manage the project on our behalf.
Prior to acquiring the spec script last year, it had previously been listed on The Black List with the title “I’ll F**king Kill You.
