As a die-hard fan who has spent countless hours building empires and leading civilizations since the dawn of time (or at least since Civilization I), this announcement has sent my heart racing with anticipation! It feels like an eternity since Civilization VI graced our screens back in 2016, but finally, we have a release date for its successor: February 2025.
2024’s Gamescom Opening Night Live didn’t fail to excite me as Sid Meier’s Civilization 7, one of the highly anticipated titles, was among the lineup. The sneak peek during the showcase was nothing short of impressive. We caught a glimpse of the game’s fresh art style, some potential factions to control, and even hints at new mechanics that will spice up gameplay. However, what truly got my heart racing was the confirmed release date: February 2025, exclusively on PC!
During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024, hosted by Geoff Keighley, the major unveiling for Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 took place. This was our opportunity to delve deeper into what Civilization 7 has in store, following earlier hints this month. At the event, a number of nations and their leaders were showcased, along with the artistic direction that will define the game. Additionally, we got a sneak peek at several new and updated mechanics being utilized.
The game Civilization has long been known as the leader within the strategy genre of 4X games, making it highly anticipated among many fans. Since its release in 2016, Civilization 6 has received additional content through DLC, updates, and fan-made mods. However, with eight years having passed, it’s fair to say that Civ 6 is showing its age. Fans have undoubtedly been eagerly waiting for a new game in the series. Fortunately, they won’t have to wait much longer.
