Christopher Rich, famed for his portrayal of Brock Hart on the successful sitcom Reba, has publicly detailed his road to recovery following a life-altering stroke in 2018. At 71 years old, this esteemed actor has spoken candidly about the obstacles he’s encountered since his devastating brain injury, likening it to a “hard reset” that has profoundly transformed various aspects of his life.
What did Christopher Rich say about his brain injury?
Just as a gamer might describe the aftermath of a game-changing glitch in their favorite game, my 2018 brain injury feels like an unforeseen, devastating bug that hit me with an atomic force. It’s not just a simple reset; it’s more like everything inside me got scrambled. I had to start over, piece by piece, dealing with both the physical and emotional challenges it brought on.” – Christopher Rich
Following my hospital release, my road to recovery took an unexpected turn. I encountered further health hurdles such as blood clots, lung embolisms, and heart debris. “Once I was out of the hospital, I started moving around again, only to find myself back in due to blood clots and dealing with lung embolisms and heart debris,” I shared. Yet, despite these challenges, my spirits remained high. “Having survived all that, I’m feeling fantastic,” I said.
Currently, Rich is set to reappear on NBC’s Happy’s Place, sharing screen time with his previous Reba co-star, Reba McEntire. This upcoming appearance serves as a reunion not just for McEntire, but also for Melissa Peterman, who portrayed Barbra Jean in Reba. In the new series, Rich will be playing Christopher, a local tattoo artist dealing with the aftermath of a stroke. He expressed his hope that this role might lead to more opportunities, as he believes those from his past projects may recognize his potential and offer him further work.
