On May 21st, 2025, Mohanlal will be turning 65 and fans can’t wait for the occasion. However, the planned re-release of his classic film “Chotta Mumbai,” initially set for his birthday, has been delayed instead.
According to a recent update from Maniyanpilla Raju, who’s close to Mohanlal and produces films, the release of the movie has been delayed because of the strong performance of ‘Thudarum’. Yet, no new date has been set for the screening of the 4K restored version.

Chotta Mumbai” is an action-comedy movie in Malayalam, produced by Anwar Rasheed. The plot, penned by Benny P. Nayarambalam, revolves around the character Vasco Da Gama, who goes by the name Thala, and his group of companions.
Living carefree and jobless, Thala and his companions often cause trouble in their community. But the situation becomes grim when they cross paths with a corrupt cop who doubles as a gangster.
In the leading role of Chotta Mumbai, we find Mohanlal, with a talented supporting cast that includes Kalabhavan Mani, Siddique, Jagathy Sreekumar, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manikuttan, Bijukuttan, and others. The film’s music is skillfully composed by Rahul Raj.
Regarding Mohanlal’s upcoming projects, he recently appeared in the movie titled “Thudarum.” This critically acclaimed film, helmed by director Tharun Moorthy, is a crime drama that follows the story of Shanmugham, also known as Benz, who leads a peaceful life with his family.
Yet, a significant shift occurs in his life as his cherished vehicle becomes implicated in a police investigation. The consequences and ensuing events, which unfold from this incident, form the crux of the remainder of the film.
The main star is Mohanlal, joined by a talented group that includes Shobana, Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, and several others.
In the future, Mohanlal is actively working on the set of Hridayapoorvam, a heartwarming movie directed by Sathyan Anthikad. Malavika Mohanan plays a significant role alongside him in this film. Additionally, Mohanlal has also taken on a brief role for Kannappa, where Vishnu Manchu is the leading actor.
