Choreographer Jani Master permanently expelled from Dancers and Dance Directors Association over sexual abuse allegations; REPORT

As an ardent fan of dance and its dynamic choreographers, I’ve always admired the artistry that Jani Master brought to the table. However, the recent turn of events has left me utterly disheartened and disillusioned. The allegations against him are grave and unacceptable in any walk of life, let alone within the realm of our beloved dance community.

Choreographer Jani Master was recently permanently kicked out of the Dancers and Dance Directors Association due to accusations of sexual misconduct.

Based on a Sakshi news report, it was mentioned that Jani Master, who had been the association’s president, had previously been suspended. The election for the association’s new leadership took place on December 6, 2024, and choreographer Joseph Prakash won the presidency, effectively ending Jani Master’s tenure. Interestingly, this victory marked Joseph’s fifth term as the association’s president.

If you’re not already aware, it has come to light that the choreographer for Stree 2 is currently being accused of sexual assault. This allegation stems from a 21-year-old colleague who filed a complaint against him. Consequently, he was apprehended by the police in Goa and is currently in custody.

In my deepest distress, I find myself compelled to confess that recent allegations against this revered choreographer have left me utterly shaken. It’s said that he is accused of assaulting a minor girl, an act repeated on numerous occasions according to the victim herself. These horrifying claims have led to severe consequences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, and additional charges under section 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 323 of the Indian Penal Code. As a devoted fan, these allegations have tarnished the image of my idol beyond recognition.

Previously incarcerated, the choreographer was released on bail several months back under specific conditions set by the court. These conditions include abstaining from influencing the ongoing investigation and avoiding any actions that may negatively impact the victim’s life. Furthermore, he is obligated to actively participate in the investigation as it continues.

Following his release on bail, the choreographer shared a touching video on Instagram, which displayed his heartwarming reunion with his family at home. The video beautifully portrayed their emotional hugs upon his return from a 37-day stint in prison.
