As a devoted follower of Tamil cinema, I have witnessed the extraordinary talent and versatility of Chiyaan Vikram, particularly his mesmerizing portrayal of Anniyan. The thought of seeing this iconic role reprised by another actor brings mixed feelings. While I wholeheartedly believe that Ranveer Singh would bring a unique interpretation to the character, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia and admiration for Vikram’s original performance.
The 2005 film “Anniyan” by actor Chiyaan Vikram was a huge success at the box office, and it’s still cherished by movie enthusiasts years later. There were whispers that the movie might be remade in Hindi, with Ranveer Singh taking on the lead role. But those rumors eventually faded, leaving the project in limbo.
More recently, Chiyaan Vikram expressed his thoughts on another actor potentially taking over his iconic, enduring character.
When asked about the rumors of Anniyan getting a Hindi remake, Chiyaan Vikram declined to comment, stating that director Shankar, who is involved in the remake, would be better equipped to address the matter.
Chiyaan said, “I think you should ask this Shankar. He should have made part two with me.”
Additionally, Thangalaan expressed his thoughts on Ranveer Singh reprising his notable part from the movie in its Hindi adaptation. He stated that Ranveer seems well-suited for the role. Furthermore, Chiyaan mentioned that he anticipates Ranveer to introduce new dimensions to the character.
Vikram added, “In all honesty, I believe Ranveer could’ve done a great job playing Anniyan. Given my admiration for him as an actor, I’d be intrigued to see his take on the role. I imagine it would make for an engaging adaptation of the story.
Previously, during an interview with TopMob Masterclass, Chiyaan Vikram spoke about the prospect of acting in a Hindi movie. In his remarks, the actor stated that while this question has been frequently asked for years, he would consider doing a Hindi film only when he could maintain the same creative liberty as he does in Tamil films.
Chiyaan said, “I prefer to fully commit to projects in Tamil, as that’s where I feel most comfortable. If a suitable role arises in Hindi, I would gladly take it on. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed for such an opportunity. Whenever it comes along, it will come.
In terms of his career, the actor has two upcoming projects lined up: Dhruva Natchathiram: Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam and Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, which he is expected to be a part of.
