Armani Ortiz, who has worked closely with Tyler Perry for a long time and been his protégé, is set to direct his first solo project – the upcoming musical titled “Otra”. This Latino production started filming in Atlanta and Puerto Rico, and Rome Flynn, previously of “Chicago Fire”, along with María Gabriela De Faría, have signed on as the main cast for this musical movie.
Rome Flynn and María Gabriela De Faría to lead new Otra feature
A fresh report affirms that Armani Ortiz is set to debut as a movie director with the feature film Otra. Besides Rome Flynn, known for Chicago Fire and The Moodys, and María Gabriela De Faría, the cast of the musical Otra also features Flor Delis Alicea and Aria Celeste Castillo.
By the given deadline, it’s been decided that Tyler Perry will take on the role of executive producer for the one-shot feature. Simultaneously, Daniel Etzioni, Deance Wyatt, and Ortiz themselves will assume the roles as producers. Furthermore, Asante White is in charge as the main producer for this project.
In a recent interview with the outlet, Ortiz expressed that he’s been envisioning and preparing for Rome Flynn’s musical for nearly five years. To have it as his initial solo lead role in a movie seems almost destined.
Tyler Perry’s apprentice articulated his reasoning behind filming the entire movie in a single unbroken take. He expressed, “As a filmmaker, I aimed to create something unprecedented and unique – the first-ever one-take musical in cinematic history. If there is already a one-take musical out there, I assure you it wasn’t produced with our budget constraints in mind.
Furthermore, Perry himself has voiced his enthusiasm for Armani Ortiz bringing his creative ideas to the silver screen. Calling the budding filmmaker a “remarkable storyteller,” The Oval’s creator stated, “Otra is a tale of love, destiny, and discovering one’s voice. I’m eager for Armani’s first solo directorial project, and for viewers to witness his vision unfold.
Although the creators have been sharing encouraging news about the project, Otra is still waiting for an official announcement on when it will be launched.
