Chicago Fire season 13 is taking its first break but we know what to expect when it returns

As a dedicated gamer of the One Chicago universe for over a decade now, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment when NBC decides to take a break from airing new episodes of my beloved Chicago Fire. It feels like a sudden game over screen popping up mid-boss battle, leaving me yearning for more. But alas, it seems that life, much like the unpredictable nature of firefighting, is full of unexpected pauses.

Next Wednesday, there will be a hiatus in the TV programming, and NBC has chosen to have this pause for their show Chicago Fire. As part of the One Chicago franchise, the break will also affect other shows in the series.

Indeed, you’re correct! There won’t be a fresh installment of “Chicago Fire” airing on October 30th. This might be disappointing for enthusiasts, but fret not, as the wait won’t be prolonged for the upcoming episode. In fact, a sneak peek or preview of the new episode has already been released, giving us a glimpse into what’s to come.

How long is the Chicago Fire break?

There won’t be any fresh episodes until November. Not to worry, though, since we’re almost at the end of October with just a week remaining. You can look forward to a new episode on November 6th.

In the sneak peek for the upcoming episode, it’s hinted that my character, Severide, might be digging into something involving Pascal. While responding to a call, I stumble upon a shipment of firearms, leading me to team up with the Illinois State Police. Pascal seems to want me off this case, and in the trailer, there’s a glance between characters that could imply why he wants me out.

As a gamer, I’m wondering if Pascal is in the loop about whatever’s happening here. The way that person is looking at him makes me think there might be some juicy info about him floating around that could potentially be used against him. I don’t know Pascal well enough to guess his reactions, but something tells me he’s feeling the heat right now.

Why is Chicago Fire taking a break?

It’s peculiar about this pause, isn’t it? It can be frustrating when a series goes on hiatus, but it’s not uncommon. Networks like NBC must distribute 22 episodes over a nine-month period to align with the standard TV schedule, which necessitates occasional breaks.

As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that this is merely the beginning of our weekly journey. We’ve got quite a few exciting episodes lined up before we take our holiday break in December. And just a heads up, there might be a short hiatus around Thanksgiving week as well.

It seems like Chicago Fire might be having a break for scheduling purposes, as this could be the sole explanation. The fact that a promotional episode has been released hints at this possibility.

Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
