As a long-time fan of Chicago Fire, I’m both excited and apprehensive about the new changes coming to Firehouse 51. The departure of Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) and his decision to become Deputy Commissioner was unexpected, but it opens up an opportunity for new leadership at the firehouse.
There’s a new boss on Chicago Fire so who will be the new captain of Firehouse 51? Find out here!
In the thrilling world of Chicago Fire, I was taken aback when some cast shifts occurred during season 12. However, nothing prepared me for the bombshell dropped in the finale. As it dawned on me that the relentless Chief Robinson wasn’t the right fit to ascend the role of Deputy Commissioner, I decided to take matters into my own hands. With determination burning in my veins, I put myself forward for the position. To my astonishment, they agreed! Consequently, I must now bid farewell to my esteemed role as leader at Firehouse 51.
Eamonn Walker announced that he won’t be a consistent cast member on “Chicago Fire” anymore, but he might make occasional appearances as Boden adapts to his new role. Initially, Herrmann (David Eigenberg) was slated to act as the interim boss, with Boden advocating for him as his successor.
It’s impressive how the character has developed throughout the show, given all the challenges they’ve faced. Additionally, with Herrmann dealing with health problems such as hearing loss, it’s logical for him to transition into a less active, more managerial position.
At Firehouse 51, Herrmann hasn’t been officially promoted to captain and must pass the Battalion Chief exam before assuming the role permanently. Consequently, a new Deputy Chief will take over instead. This change may be recognizable to viewers of television.
Who is the new Deputy Chief on Chicago Fire?
According to TVLine, I’ll be encountering a new character named Dom Pascal, played by Dermot Mulroney, in the season 13 premiere of Chicago Fire. He’s the new Deputy Chief at Firehouse 51, hailing from Miami where he’s held a chief position for some time. However, his background with the CFD predates this tenure. His leadership style contrasts notably with that of the esteemed Chief Wallace Boden.
Mulroney boasts an impressive resume in films, including “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “The Wedding Date,” and the recent blockbuster hit, “Anyone But You.” He also shines on TV with roles in “Secret Invasion,” “Station 19,” “Hana,” “Shameless,” and “The Purge.” Fans often mix up Mulroney with Dylan McDermott from “FBI: Most Wanted” in the popular online game, which the two actors have enjoyed poking fun at for years.
As someone who has worked in a fire station for over a decade, I can understand Herrmann’s excitement about Pascal joining the team as a new regular character. However, his dreams of becoming Deputy Chief might be put on hold if Mulroney is only there temporarily to fill the slot while Herrmann qualifies for the battalion chief test.
Boasting a brilliant new main character, “Chicago Fire” season 13 promises to deliver enjoyment in abundance as it premieres this autumn.
Chicago Fire season 13 premieres Wednesday September 25 at 9/8c on NBC.
