Channing Tatum & Kirsten Dunst Crime Drama Roofman Gets First Photos

Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst star in the first photos for the upcoming crime drama Roofman.

Drawing inspiration from real-life events, I found myself stepping into the shoes of Jeffrey Manchester, a man once an honorable U.S. Army Reserve officer, who transformed into a cunning thief. He masterminded over sixty daring heists on McDonald’s restaurants, accessing them through their rooftops during the night. In the morning, he would clear out the cash registers. His exploits earned him the monikers “Rooftop Robber” and “Roofman.” To stay one step ahead of capture, I hid within the walls of a nearby Toys “R” Us.

Entertainment Weekly published the initial images from the upcoming films, offering glimpses into the roles of Tatum and Dunst. Tatum disclosed that he conversed with the genuine Manchester, whom he describes as “a captivating yet tragic individual.

Tatum shared with EW that he truly hopes Jeff enjoys the movie. Jeff has certainly had his share of regrettable choices, but he’s usually the one to admit it. To me, Jeff is a captivating and unlucky soul, and it’s hard not to feel compassion for him. He’s incredibly intelligent and vibrant, even over the phone. The first time we spoke, I was anxious, yet he seemed to know details about me and asked questions about my life. He really made our conversation comfortable.

Who is involved with Channing Tatum in Roofman?

In the same cast as Tatum, we find Dunst portraying Leigh Wainscott, a divorced mother working at Toys “R” Us where Manchester is concealed. The film centers around Manchester’s experiences living in North Carolina under the name John Zorn for six months in 2004. Manchester develops feelings for Leigh and endeavors to create a fresh start until his past begins to reemerge, threatening them both.

In addition to the lead character, Roofman features actors such as Ben Mendelsohn, Peter Dinklage, Uzo Aduba, Juno Temple, LaKeith Stanfield, Melonie Diaz, Tony Revolori, and Jimmy O. Yang.

Derek Cianfrance, who hasn’t made a film since 2016’s “The Light Between Oceans”, is now directing a project called “Roofman”. He also wrote the script for this movie in collaboration with Kirt Gunn. Interestingly, Cianfrance was nominated for an Oscar for co-writing the screenplay of the 2020 film “Sound of Metal”.

Dylan Sellers, Chris Parker, Jamie Patricof, and Lynette Howell Taylor are producers.

Roofman opens in theaters on October 10, 2025.
