As a devoted gamer speaking for myself, I regretfully announce that the crew at Extremely OK Games has decided to shelve our upcoming project, Earthblade. This wasn’t an easy call; it stemmed from a copyright dilemma and some thoughtful contemplation about Earthblade’s development journey.
On January 22nd, 2025, Maddy Thorson from Extremely OK Games shared news about the fate of Earthblade. In her post, Maddy revealed that she and Noel Berry had a tough call and decided to scrap the project, Earthblade. This decision was made back in December 2024, but they chose to keep it under wraps until now.
In her account, Maddy mentions that a “split started developing” among the team, involving Noel, herself, and Pedro, one of the original members of EXOK. The dispute primarily revolved around the intellectual property rights of Celeste, which proved to be a challenging and painful ordeal. Eventually, we managed to find a resolution, but both parties also decided that it would be best for everyone if we each went our own way in the end.
Although there were other considerations influencing the team’s choice to call off the match, the issue served as a catalyst for Maddy and Noel to ponder over the evolution of Earthblade. As Maddy puts it, “It has been a tough journey for quite some time.
Maddy and Noel intend to work on more compact ventures in the future, aiming to team up with some gifted individuals they’ve encountered throughout their adventure. Be sure to check out our Extremely OK Games page for updates on their upcoming projects.
