CCP Games releases EVE Online 2025 roadmap, including Fanfest dates

2025 signifies the 22nd anniversary of EVE Online’s debut, and CCP Games has exciting plans up their sleeve to make this year a fantastic one for its supporters. They’ve unveiled a content and event roadmap for EVE Online in 2025, which incidentally includes the return of EVE Fanfest. This annual convention will once again be held in Iceland, starting from May. Additionally, updates and expansions are planned throughout the year.

This week, CCP Games unveiled a 2025 development plan for EVE Online. The journey begins with a significant content release called “Revenant,” set to launch in the first quarter of 2025, wrapping up by late April. Following that, they are planning a summer expansion coinciding with EVE Fanfest 2025, taking place at the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland. Tickets for the event are now on sale for eager fans. In addition to this, “Capsuleer Day” is scheduled during the second quarter of the year.

In the third quarter, the EVE: The Alliance Tournament is scheduled to occur, offering different factions within the EVE universe a chance to showcase their top-tier pilots in fierce competition. The reward includes PLEX, SKINs, and prestige from combat victories. The tournament kicks off with the Feeders tournament during the Autumn Season, followed by additional Alliance Tournament events in the fourth quarter. Additionally, a winter expansion is being prepared, coinciding with the Winter Nexus Crimson Harvest events.

In our conversation with CCP Games, they shared their plans for 2025, involving Creative Director Bergur Finnbogason and Community Developer Peter Farrell. They mentioned that next year will be more about refining existing features (iteration) rather than introducing new ones (innovation), particularly emphasizing the May update.

Finnbogason shared with us that since returning to expansions, we’ve embarked on incredibly engaging adventures. There’s been a wealth of fresh content, some of which we’ve refined, but moving forward, our focus is on enhancing the depth of existing systems rather than constantly introducing new ones as we have done so far… Towards the end of the year, our aim is to empower players to shape their corporation culture and personalize their space. We want to grant our players more autonomy, and foster a sense of ownership among our gaming community.

Previously, we discussed constructing or renovating the fundamental structures of our core systems, according to Farrell. As Bergur mentioned, this year, instead of expanding in multiple directions, we’re focusing on strengthening our foundation. We introduced Equinox with additional customization options and saw significant advancements in corporation projects. There are numerous exciting elements that we plan to address next, and I believe players will find them enjoyable.

It appears that CCP is planning something big for EVE Online in 2021. Keep an eye on this space as we’ll be following the progress of their 2025 roadmap and providing further updates and insights about it.
