I stumbled upon a chilling news article from CBS News about an incident that occurred in Gwinnett County, Georgia. In this story, I, unfortunately, find myself in the role of the grieving husband, Hal, who made a horrifying discovery: my wife Kay’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood on our kitchen floor.

Based on their investigation, it’s thought that the unidentified attacker entered the house via the front door. Despite a lack of evidence suggesting forced entry, investigators assume that Wenal may have granted access to the murderer.

Officially, CBS News reported that the attacker struck Kay Wenal as soon as she opened the door and let him in. According to investigators, he pursued her into the kitchen and sliced her throat not once, but twice, ensuring there was no chance of survival for poor Kay. Following the incident, police conducted a thorough search for the murder weapon, but unfortunately, they came up empty-handed. Sixteen long years have passed since any suspect has been apprehended in connection to this tragic case.

According to CBS News, the suspect in Kay Wenal’s murder made two deep cuts to her throat as part of a lethal second attempt. Law enforcement sources explained this action as a “double-insurance move,” meant to ensure her demise. Although no weapon was discovered at the scene, investigators suspected it was a sharp instrument based on the clean incisions, ruling out jagged lacerations.

During the course of the investigation, it was observed by detectives that the culprit was aware of Kay Wenal’s residence. The police shared with CBS News that they uncovered a towel bearing traces of the victim’s blood. Furthermore, the sole physical evidence detected at the scene was a latex glove. Initially, the prime suspect was Hal Wenal, but he was eliminated as a possible culprit once it was determined that he lacked a reason to harm his wife. CBS News also reported that Hal had engaged the services of private investigators for the case and put forth a $250,000 reward for any credible information regarding the killer.
