Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a friendlier update to an unforgiving original

I have a strong affinity for Romancing SaGa 2, and I must say that it stands as my favorite among all SaGa games. To clarify, I’m quite fond of the entire series, but Romancing 2 takes the crown. Earlier this year, I enjoyed SaGa Emerald Beyond, and when the announcement for Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven came out, I was simply astounded. Two new installments in one year, including a remake of my all-time favorite? That’s downright unbelievable! Although I was envious of my coworkers who got to test the game at PAX West, I recently had an opportunity to sample another part of it. Interestingly enough, this piece is what players worldwide will eventually get to experience, in the form of a demo. The good news is that progress from the demo will carry over to the full release, so there’s no reason not to give it a try!

California Governor Gavin Newsom signs election misinformation bill, banning deepfakes

2017 saw Elon Musk voicing concerns about the potential dangers of unregulated AI, a stance he reiterated in 2023 despite his involvement in xAI, his own AI platform. However, his recent shift towards right-wing politics has led to a paradoxical situation: the regulation of AI he once advocated for, now becoming a reality, particularly in California. This change was prompted by Governor Gavin Newsom signing a bill that prohibits the distribution of election or political ads and communications containing deceptive content, following instances where AI-generated ads, like those shared by Elon Musk and right-wing influencers on the X (formerly Twitter) platform, misrepresented Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. As a gamer, I can’t help but reflect on the unpredictable consequences of technology and politics intertwining.

Additionally, there’s XDefiant, Ubisoft’s initial foray into the free-to-play live-service shooter genre. The team at Ubisoft San Francisco is eager to continue providing new content, and they shared their plans for Season 2 on Wednesday.
