Based on current information, it appears that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will feature hardware distinct from its predecessor, marking a departure from past practices where upgrades were more incremental. For instance, the Nintendo 3DS incorporated DS hardware, making backward compatibility relatively seamless. However, the Switch 2 is expected to break new ground: according to Nintendo, the underlying architecture has been completely overhauled. Consequently, Nintendo is opting for a strategy that largely emulates your current Switch games.

For the upcoming EVO Japan 2025 event, the registration deadline passed this week, revealing some preliminary statistics about the total number of participants.
