In my perspective as an enthusiast, Elden Ring: Nightreign offers straightforward multiplayer features. However, true to FromSoftware’s style, they’ve managed to add layers of complexity that seem unnecessary at times, particularly when it comes to two-player games, which appear to be overlooked for reasons unknown to me.
Consequently, this offshoot performs just as smoothly on the Steam Deck, seeming to leverage the same SteamOS/Proton optimization that improved Elden Ring’s performance on Valve’s handheld particularly. My guide for adjusting settings in the base game can be applied here as well, although my experience of being chased by loothounds Nic and Ollie at breakneck speeds through Limveld suggests that some additional quality reductions might be beneficial. This is FromSoft at their fastest pace, so it’s wise to ensure the frame rates keep up.
