Carver's reaction to Tori was weak in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 5

As a long-time fan of Chicago Fire, I can’t help but feel that Sam Carver’s ongoing saga with Violet and Tori is starting to drag. The latest episode was a prime example of Carver’s weakness when it comes to handling relationships.

In the television series “Chicago Fire,” the ongoing narrative involving Sam Carver, Violet and Tori feels repetitive. The most recent episode suggests that his handling of personal relationships lacks strength or resilience.

Caution: This post contains some SPOILERS for Chicago Fire season 13, episode 5.

In the latest installment, instead of the anticipated heated confrontation between Carver and Tori, we witnessed a surprising turn of events. He discovered her deleted text messages, prompting him to challenge her at last. Despite his evident fury, Carver remained relatively inactive when Tori entered the room.

Carver knows Violet better than this in Chicago Fire

Carver has had a long-standing relationship with Violet, having collaborated for several years. During part of this period, they were intimate partners as well. Besides their personal interactions, Carver would’ve learned about Violet’s character from their colleagues at the fire station.

In response to Tori’s allegation that Violet was manipulating him, Carver should have swiftly refuted the claim. He believes it’s unlikely that Violet would behave in such a manner, and if she truly intended to manipulate him, she certainly isn’t doing an effective job of it.

Actually, Carver is the one guiding these two women, as it were. He deceived Tori about his destination and was unable to explain to her why he wound up at Molly’s for Violet’s birthday party. His presence there wasn’t due to Violet; rather, it was a choice he made on his own.

Carver needs to end this relationship now in Chicago Fire

It’s often my viewpoint that when someone points a finger at another person for doing something without solid evidence, it’s frequently a case of them projecting their own behaviors or feelings onto the other person. Clearly, Tori is projecting in this situation. She’s attempting to make Carver believe that Violet is manipulating him, when in fact, she herself is manipulating him.

Time has come for Carver to assemble everything he’s learned. He noticed that Tori erased her message, without a single apology following. Instead, she offered some flimsy explanation. This is a woman who harbors doubts about her partner, and she risks tainting Firehouse 51 with toxicity if Carver doesn’t address this issue. If he can’t confront Tori, then it may be best for him to part ways from Firehouse 51 before his presence negatively impacts Violet’s working environment.

Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
