Carrie Coon & Lily James Join Oscar-Winning Director’s Cult Movie Harmonia

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that I’ve learned Carrie Coon and Lily James have been cast as the leading ladies in the anticipated cult thriller, “Harmonia,” directed by the renowned Guy Nattiv (Golda). This news follows Bleecker Street acquiring the U.S. rights for the film, which is set to hit theaters in 2026.

The project is centered around the personal story of Nattiv’s grandmother involving a secretive cult. Previously announced actors, Bella Ramsey (known for ‘The Last of Us’) and Odessa Young (‘Mothering Sunday’), will be joined by Coon and James in the cast. Nattiv and Noa Berman-Herzberg collaborated on writing the screenplay, with Nattiv set to direct. Filming is anticipated to commence this summer.

In a statement, Nattiv expressed that the film “Harmonia” was inspired by the life of his grandmother – a woman whose inner strength and hidden suffering made a profound impact on our family. For many years, her tale remained in obscurity, but now, it’s time for it to be heard.

Nattiv continued by sharing how fortunate he feels to work alongside Carrie, Lily, Bella, and Odessa – actresses who each embody the complex characters with a profound sensitivity. Their dedication to telling his story is truly touching.

What is Harmonia about?

The movie is set in the 1980s and tells the story of Rita (Coon), who, dealing with past traumas, encounters a vibrant spiritual guide named James after an unexpected meeting. Drawn to the all-female community called Harmonia, Rita abandons her life and loved ones until her daughters, Ella (Ramsey) and Jo (Young), embark on a perilous mission to save their mother. Once within the commune, they find themselves increasingly entangled in the leader’s complex web of spiritual and psychological deception.

Harmonia is created by Julia Lebedev and Eddie Vaisman under Sight Unseen, collaboratively produced by Jaime Ray Newman and Nattiv for New Native Pictures, and directed by Oren Moverman. Concurrently, Leonid Lebedev takes on the role of executive producer. Notably, this is a new venture between Nattiv and Bleecker Street, following their past project Golda in 2023.
