As a long-time Marvel fan who has been following every twist and turn in the MCU since its inception, I must say that I find Nate Moore’s revelation about the title change of Captain America 4 both intriguing and somewhat predictable. The use of “New World Order” was always going to raise eyebrows given its historical and contemporary connotations, so it’s not surprising that Marvel decided to steer clear of it.
As a dedicated gamer and Marvel fan, I’ve been following the news about Captain America 4 closely. Originally announced as Captain America: New World Order at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, it was quite a shock when it was later confirmed that the title had been changed to Captain America: Brave New World. Now, veteran MCU producer Nate Moore has shed some light on why this change occurred. While the shift might seem minor, many of us have been curious about the reasons behind it. In a recent chat, Moore explained the exact rationale for this decision.
Captain America 4 producer reveals why the title changed to Brave New World
According to Moore, the phrase “New World Order” was removed from the title of Captain America 4 because it’s closely associated with current societal issues. He added that this change was preferred since the original title made some people feel uneasy.
Nate Moore, who’s worked with Marvel Studios since 2010, revealed this detail in an interview with Empire. He mentioned that the initial title “New World Order” was intriguing and had a dark, ominous feel. However, they received feedback, both internally and externally, suggesting that the phrase has been used in a troubling way in reality, causing discomfort among some people, which led to a change in the title for Captain America 4.
Significantly, “New World Order” was also the title of the first episode from the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, streaming on Disney+. This show explored worldwide ramifications that arose following the repercussions of Thanos’ snap correction. Furthermore, it firmly established Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking over from Chris Evans.
The fourth installment of Captain America, now known as “Captain America: Brave New World,” is set to premiere in cinemas on Valentine’s Day, 2025. Directed by Julius Onah, the film boasts an impressive cast that includes Harrison Ford, Anthony Mackie, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson, along with several others.
