There’s a possibility that Ross hid his death and used the rumored Red Hulk transformation in the film as a cover to pursue undisclosed goals in the story. Evidence for this theory includes Betty Ross’ attendance at the funeral, as seen in JustJared’s photographs.
I wasn’t taken aback when when I read in the comics that Ross disguised himself as the Red Hulk and used a “Life-Model Decoy” to hide his identity. As the Red Hulg, he kept a low profile to deal with gamma-powered dangers, even targeting the Hulk himself.
