Cape Fear Cast: Patrick Wilson Eyed to Star in Apple TV+ Show

Actor Patrick Wilson, known for his role in The Conjuring, is in preliminary discussions about joining the cast of Cape Fear for Apple TV+’s upcoming series adaptation of John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel The Executioners. This project has the prestigious backing of Academy Award-winning directors Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, who will act as executive producers.

The official summary states that it’s a nerve-wracking, Hitchcock-esque suspense and an exploration of America’s fixation with true crime in the 21st century. In this series, a tempest is brewing for the contentedly married lawyers Amanda and Steve Bowden as Max Cady, a notorious felon from their past, is released from prison.

Who else is in the Cape Fear cast?

In this adaptation, Amy Adams (from American Hustle) and Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) will take on leading roles in Cape Fear as Anna and Max Cady respectively. If Wilson’s deal goes through, he would play Tom Bowden, the husband of Anna. The 10-episode series is spearheaded by Nick Antosca who serves as creator, executive producer, and showrunner.

In addition to Antosca, Spielberg, and Scorsese, Alex Hedlund, Daryl Frank, and Justin Falvey will also serve as executive producers for this upcoming show. The production company UCP is involved too. Filming is planned for some point in 2022. This is the first time that the original book has been turned into a TV series; it previously had film adaptations in 1962 and 1991, with Scorsese directing the latter version. At present, there’s no set release date for the show.

Previously, Wilson completed work on the last film of The Conjuring series, titled “Last Rites.” This will be the final chance for fans to watch Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren in the horror sequel, scheduled for release in cinemas on September 5, 2025. Currently, he is set to act alongside George Clooney in an upcoming drama film called “Jay Kelly.
