As a passionate gamer, I’ve found myself right smack in the middle of a stirring uproar within the running community over my involvement with Wikipedia. It all started when Canadian Running released a surprising report, exposing edits made to competitors’ Wikipedia pages from an account linked to me and my better half, Conor Holt.
The report made clear that changes in the document eliminated recognition for peers like Courtney Dauwalter and Killian Jornet, instead boosting Herron’s reputation. Previously linked to the suspended Wikipedia account “Temporun73,” which breached conflict of interest guidelines, this pair was soon after prohibited. A short while later, a fresh account called “Rundbowie” emerged, carrying on with the questionable alterations.
After this expose, I faced a whirlwind of criticism that eventually cost me a significant sponsorship deal. Following the allegations, I publicly declared my innocence on X (previously Twitter), but later chose to delete those accounts. However, Conor Holt stepped up and accepted full responsibility, stating that I was uninformed about the Wikipedia edits in question. He also offered an apology for any harm this situation may have caused other athletes.
