As a seasoned lifestyle expert with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the saga of Mohanlal’s film Barroz is reminiscent of a roller coaster ride with countless twists and turns. It’s a tale that seems to defy the laws of movie production, much like the fantastical world of Barroz itself.
It seems that Mohanlal, planning another big-screen appearance with the film Barroz this year, may need to be patient a while longer. As per a report by Sridhar Pillai, the eagerly anticipated fantasy movie has been pushed back again.
According to recent information, movie theaters have announced that the release date for the film has been moved from September 12, 2024, to sometime in October. The specific date has not been finalized yet. At this point, the producers have not officially confirmed these changes.
The movie, which is both Mohanlal’s directorial debut and his first film since March 2021, has faced multiple delays and postponements. The production initially started amidst the pandemic but was halted due to the second wave of Covid-19. However, in November of that year, Mohanlal resumed work on this project.
Later on, they made a few adjustments: altering the film’s script and actors due to practical considerations. They recommenced production in December with these changes. Some previously filmed scenes featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran were discarded as part of this process.
By September 2022, the movie had finished both production and post-production. It was initially scheduled for a release in March 2023, but no updates were provided until the producers officially announced a new release date of March 28, 2024. However, this date didn’t hold either, and a new announcement came out stating that the movie would be released on September 12 of this year instead.
Currently, there are rumors that the release of the movie “Barroz” might get pushed back to October in order to avoid a conflict with other films in theaters. We can only speculate what the creators have planned for this adaptation of Jijo Punnoose’s novel “Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure.”
As a devoted follower, I was initially part of the writing process for this film, but due to the producers’ decision to alter the screenplay, I regrettably stepped away from my role as writer. The resulting movie stars Mohanlal in the captivating role of Barroz, the treasure guardian. Notable actors like Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Tuhin Menon, and Guru Somasundaram also shine in pivotal roles within this stellar ensemble cast.
In this film, Lydian Nadhaswaram is responsible for creating the melodious tunes, while Mark Killian contributes the captivating background music. Notably, Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of Mohanlal, assists in directing the movie.
