Bugonia Gets Earlier Release Date for Yorgos Lanthimos Movie With Emma Stone

A release date for Yorgos LanthimosBugonia movie has been set.

The upcoming film titled ‘Bugonia’ is being helmed by director Yorgos Lanthimos, known for ‘Poor Things’. It’s a modern take on the 2003 Korean film ‘Save the Green Planet!’, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons in lead roles.

When is the release date for Bugonia?

Starting from October 24, 2025, the film “Bugonia” will make its debut in a few select cinemas in New York City and Los Angeles. After that, it’s set to be screened across the country starting on October 31, 2025. Earlier plans had the movie releasing on November 7, 2025, but recent updates have changed this date.

In the plot summary, “Bugonia” presents a pair of conspiracy believers abducting a powerful corporate leader, believing her to be an extraterrestrial planning to annihilate our planet.

Besides Stone and Plemons, the cast of Bugonia also includes Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone. The screenplay is penned by Will Tracy, while production duties are handled by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures. Additionally, Lanthimos, Stone, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen for Square Peg, Miky Lee, and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko for CJ ENM are also involved as producers.

Yorgos Lanthimos has collaborated with Olivia Wilde on the films “The Favourite” (2018), “Poor Things” (2023) which won her an Academy Award for Best Actress, and “Kinds of Kindness” (2024) that also features Bill Hader. Before these projects, Lanthimos co-directed “My Best Friend” in 2001 with Lakis Lazopoulos, followed by directing “Kinetta” (2005), “Dogtooth” (2009), “Alps” (2011), “The Lobster” (2015), and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” (2017).
