Buffy the Vampire Slayer Casts Star Wars Actress To Lead Reboot With Sarah Michelle Gellar

The upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has found its lead star.

In a forthcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival set on Hulu, Sarah Michelle Gellar will once again portray Buffy Summers. The pilot episode is helmed by Chloé Zhao, an acclaimed director who has worked on Nomadland (2020) and Eternals (2021), among other projects.

Who has been cast in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot show?

As I scroll through my newsfeed, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement when I see the announcement: Ryan Kiera Armstrong will be taking on a new role as a slayer in the show! According to Deadline, her character is described as an introverted high-school student. At the moment, there aren’t any more details about her character available, but I can’t wait to find out more!

In a nutshell, Armstrong is primarily recognized for her role as Fern in the upcoming Star Wars movie, Skeleton Crew, set in 2024. Beyond that, she has graced our screens in various TV shows such as Anne with an E, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair, and American Horror Story: Red Tide. Her film career spans titles like The Art of Racing in the Rain (2019), It Chapter Two (2019), Black Widow (2021), The Tomorrow War (2021), Firestarter (2022), The Old Way (2023), and many more.

I’m delighted to present you to Ryan Karmstrong, whom I believe will be an outstanding addition to our team,” Gellar wrote in her Instagram post about his casting. “From the instant I watched his audition, I felt certain there was no other young actress I wanted beside me. Her ability to convey such depth of emotion at such a tender age is nothing short of remarkable. And let me tell you, her smile can brighten even the gloomiest setting. Welcome aboard, Ryan, to our new Sunnydale!
