Brian Cox, Emma Roberts, & More Join Buddy Comedy Movie Old Pals

Actors Brian Cox (from Succession), Henry Winkler (Barry), Emma Roberts (We’re the Millers), and Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld) have been confirmed for the main parts in a new buddy comedy movie produced by Neon, called “Old Pals”. This project is being developed by Emmy winner Wendey Stanzler, known for Sex and the City and Parks and Recreation.

After his impressive role in Succession, which earned him an award, Cox’s latest projects were animated films That Christmas and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, released last year. Upcoming movies featuring Cox include the action sci-fi film The Electric State alongside Millie Bobby Brown, the horror comedy The Parenting with Edie Falco and Lisa Kudrow, the drama Glenrothan with Alan Cumming, and he will also be in the movie Normal with Bob Odenkirk and Lena Headey. Meanwhile, Winkler is set to star in the action film Normal, alongside Bob Odenkirk and Lena Headey.

What is Old Pals about?

According to its summary, the movie focuses on two contrasting widowers, Ira (played by Winkler) and Jimmy (Cox), who are reluctantly pushed into friendship by their clever daughters, Roberts and Wood. Despite their initial resistance, they embark on a humorous adventure of unforeseen camaraderie, demonstrating that family ties can bridge the gap between even the most disparate individuals.

In a screenplay penned by Rick Cisario, the upcoming movie “Old Pals” is set to be helmed by Stanzler. Debbie Liebling from Inner Child Productions, together with Kim Bailey and Isabel Marden for Corporate Witchcraft, will produce this film. NEON International has acquired the foreign sales rights and plans to debut it at the European Film Market in Berlin this month, while CAA Media Finance and Verve Ventures are handling the North American rights.
